Management Team

Jim Nevelle, CEO

As CEO of Sorrento Networks, Jim Nevelle oversees sales and engineering. Prior to co-founding Sorrento, Jim served as the senior vice president of operations for Verso Technologies where he was responsible for research and development, manufacturing, operations and professional services. Prior to this role, Jim was the vice president of sales and marketing for Verilink Corporation and the senior vice president of sales and marketing for XEL Communications.

Jim is a co-author of four U.S. patents pertaining to broadband architectures and deployments. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington and a master's degree in technology management from the University of Denver.

Tim Anderson, President and COO

As the president and COO of Sorrento Networks, Tim Anderson oversees finance and operations. Prior to co-founding Sorrento, Tim served as CFO of both private and public high growth technology companies, including Verilink Corporation and Carrier Access. He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial arena and has orchestrated initial public offerings, produced secondary offerings and private placements, and has managed numerous acquisitions.

Tim is a Certified Management Accountant. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance and an MBA from the University of Colorado.

Kevin Antill, Vice President of Sales for the Americas and Pacific

Kevin Antill brings more than 20 years of sales experience in the telecommunications equipment industry, working with both carriers and enterprise customers. As the vice president of sales for the Americas and Pacific, Antill oversees Sorrento's sales organization across North America, South America and the Pacific Rim.

Prior to joining Sorrento, Antill served as vice president of strategic accounts for Sycamore Networks. Antill joined Sycamore after spending 10 years with Carrier Access, where he was the senior vice president of sales. Antill also spent 10 years with Walker and Associates where he served as vice president of sales and grew revenue to more than $300 million annually. Antill began his telecommunications career at Penn Telecom, a subsidiary of North Pittsburgh Telephone Company.


Chris Garcia, Vice President of Development

Chris Garcia serves as vice president of development. In this role, he heads the design and engineering teams for the company's flagship GigaMux optical transport platforms. Chris holds overarching responsibility for developing and executing all design initiatives, including device and network management system integration. Prior to joining Sorrento, he held management positions with Zhone Technologies, Lucent Technologies and Ascend Communications. Chris earned a bachelor's degree from Pomona College in Claremont, California.

Ralph Tavino, Vice President of Global Services and Support

As vice president of global services and support, Ralph Tavino is responsible for Sorrento Networks' worldwide customer satisfaction initiatives. He boasts more than 25 years of experience creating and driving proactive improvements for customer support organizations. Before joining Sorrento, Ralph built and led a team of 33 professionals at Carrier Access, supporting voice and data equipment for RBOC, wireless, CLEC, government and enterprise customers across domestic and international markets. Previously, he managed technical support groups at Netrix and Republic Telcom where his teams served Fortune 500 companies using some of the world's first voice compression and packetization networks. Ralph holds a degree in physics from Plymouth State University.

Don Cross, Vice President of Operations

In his role as vice president of operations, Don Cross is responsible for the Sorrento Network's manufacturing organization, and oversees the development and implementation of a worldwide supply chain. Don has 29 years of industry experience with the last 24 years spent in managerial positions, including operations engineering director, design & development director, and most recently as general manager of a Shanghai development center. Prior to joining Sorrento, Don worked for Carrier Access (now Turin Networks) for eight years and spent six years with Adtran. Don earned an MBA from Alabama A&M and a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He has also completed studies toward an MSEE from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Andy Williams, Director of Operations

As Sorrento Networks' director of operations, Andy Williams is responsible for the company's manufacturing processes, including overseeing facilities, managing supply chain and contract manufacturers, and ensuring the highest level of manufacturing quality. Prior to joining Sorrento, Andy spent more than three years as the senior operations manager of optical products for Zhone Technologies. Before Zhone, he held numerous senior positions for LeeMAH Electronics and Hill-Rom. Andy is also a 12-year veteran of the U.S. Army.
