FROM THE CEO
Welcome to the first Sorrento customer newsletter. This quarterly newsletter is designed to ensure you are informed about the latest Sorrento product developments and deployments. We aim to open the lines of communication and foster the exchange of information and ideas. Therefore, I invite you to contact me directly with questions or comments at 303.803.9404 or jnevelle@sorrentonet.com. Despite economic conditions, we are pleased with our first quarter results. We attribute our continued momentum to the release of our 10G Optical Ethernet Transport (OET) line card in January. As you will read in our Sneak Peak section, we will announce our first OET deployment in the US next week, and have received a second purchase order from one of our UK-based customers. We also have multiple lab trials in progress and expect to double the number of trials this quarter. Why is the 10G OET line card on demand? With the increase in corporate network traffic, storage area networks, consumer broadband and mobile backhaul, the demand for more bandwidth continues to grow exponentially. The 10G OET line card, based on wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) technology, allows service providers and enterprises to transport and manage multiple Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) circuits on the same line card. As a result, users can reduce costs, increase GigE interfaces on existing systems and improve efficiencies for all Ethernet transport applications. We will continue to announce enhancements to the 10G OET line card and other Sorrento products throughout the year that will enable you to create even more efficient GigE networks. We will also announce new customers and product deployments. If you are interested in considering joint PR opportunities we would be happy to discuss possibilities. We thank you for your time and wish you prosperity in Q2!

SNEAK PEAKNext week, Sorrento will publicly announce its first 10G OET line card deployment with existing GigaMux customer, Alpheus Communications. Alpheus is a leading operator of data centers with an extensive fiber optic network across metro Texas. According to Francisco Maella, Chief Operating Officer at Alpheus Communications, "Sorrento's WDM platform allowed us to easily and seamlessly increase the capacity of our existing infrastructure, enabling us to meet our customers' ever-growing requirements for high-speed data services. We are seeing growth for all of our Ethernet service offerings, thus requiring our core network to be upgraded to 10G. The Sorrento platform and OET line card dramatically increase our ability to implement our 10G backbone along with delivering native 10G services to our customers." | |||
