Sorrento Networks Releases Optical Transport Network Card

DENVER — April 26, 2011 — Sorrento Networks announced today its release of the Optical Transport Network (OTN) card within its GigaMux 3200 product family. Sorrento's OTN card enables the simultaneous operation of multiple services on a single 10G wavelength. The new OTN card allows the GigaMux 3200 to provide a multiple-service platform over a full 80-channel wavelength architecture. Carriers will be able to migrate older single-wavelength services, such as SONET and SDH, to a WDM infrastructure.

"Our customers are growing their networks and Sorrento is excited to support them as they expand their capacity," said Jim Nevelle, CEO of Sorrento Networks. "By using fiber cables already in place, we gain efficiencies in deploying new WDM networks, saving our customers money. In today's environment, it is imperative that WDM providers give network operators flexibility and strive to solve bandwidth management issues within the market. With this new feature, Sorrento is responding to our customers' needs."

Sorrento's OTN technology provides a solution that addresses both legacy networks and future service offerings. "Customers could deploy the OTN card within an existing system or as they upgrade their network," added Nevelle. "We're also including our Tunable XFP technology and 80-channel filter architecture to give carriers greater flexibility and additional features that will meet their needs today and in the future."

The OTN card is now available as a feature of the GigaMux 3200 and GigaMux 1600 platforms. Interested parties can contact Sorrento at sales@sorrentonet.com (510) 577-1402.
