GigaEdge 820

CA hardened CWDM optical transport system optimized for outside plant environments

Sorrento Networks' compact GigaEdge 820 is a 4xAny protocol and rate ROADM that uses low-cost CWDM technology. The compact system is reconfigurable, regenerative and Outside Plant (OSP) hardened, making it optimal for ubiquitous deployments throughout the metro and access networks, including inter-office, IPTV, xDSL and FTTP backhaul. The GigaEdge 820's fully passive cooling system requires no fans or air filters and its reconfigurable OEO features enables set-and-forget deployments at remote terminals and offices without the need for a truck-roll.

The GigaEdge 820 offers:

• Standard 3R and optional 2R regeneration of all CWDM channels and tributary signals at each node
• A flexible OEO ROADM architecture that delivers numerous performance and deployment benefits
• Support for eight wavelengths (four in each direction) over a single fiber
• The ability to apply SONET-like design rules to build up to a 16-node ring over 100 km in diameter
• A low-cost, small footprint with plug-and-play WDM simplicity
